A Partnership and Innovation Centre is planned for Mohawk’s Fennell Campus. Industry partners will have access to the centre’s labs, equipment and technology.
“At Mohawk, we’re committed to helping build Canada’s most highly skilled workforce right here in Hamilton,” says Mohawk President Ron McKerlie.
Mohawk has set its sights on becoming:
  • The number one college for employer satisfaction in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area and number one for graduate employment in Ontario
  • Among the top 10 colleges for applied research activity in Canada and a leader in simulation-based learning among colleges and universities.
“We’re well on our way on every front,” says McKerlie.
Learning by doing is one of the hallmarks of a Mohawk education. College partners offer unique opportunities for applied learning through co-op work terms, field placements and both capstone and applied research projects.
“There’s been phenomenal demand from our partners to work with students and faculty at our three centres for applied research,” says McKerlie. Dozens of partners are working on hundreds of projects at Mohawk’s Additive Manufacturing Resource Centre, mHealth and eHealth Development and Innovation Centre and the Mohawk Energy and Advanced Power Systems Laboratory.
“Our three centres give partners ready access to expertise, equipment and technology that’s not available anywhere else in the region or province. We also have a very clear and favourable policy when it comes to intellectual property – you own whatever you create with us.
“By opening a Partnership and Innovation Centre, we can put even more of our students, graduates and faculty to work with more employers in bringing innovative solutions to market.”
Mohawk is looking to double the number of college partners that play a key role in transforming students into highly skilled graduates.
“Whether you’re a company or a community, your most valuable asset is your people. Mohawk is doing our part to build a highly skilled workforce of college graduates who are ready to get the job done.”
